NBA DFS IS BACK IN FULL ACTION!! With the return of NBA yesterday (07/30), I will be dedicating an article EVERYDAY to discuss my 3 FAVORITE PLAYERS for the DFS SLATE on DRAFTKINGS. (NOTE: I primarily play NBA DFS on DraftKings. These plays could realistically translate to FanDuel, but I would not advise blindly playing these guys on FD.)

Here are 3 PLAYERS you should be LOCKING into your DraftKings lineups for the six-game Friday slate.

  1. Caris Levert – SG/SF Brooklyn Nets – $7800

Let’s start this section by talking about all of the players the Nets are missing for the Orlando Restart: Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan, Wilson Chandler, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Taurean Prince.

This leaves a young Levert as the primary scoring option for the Nets. Before COVID-19 shut down sports in March, Levert averaged 29 minutes-per-game, while averaging 15.6 FG ATT Per Game, 17.7 PPG, 4.1 REB, and 4.1 AST with a Usage Rate of 27.7%.

We can safely project an increase in Levert’s minutes to the high 30s, and a projected usage rate of 35-40%. IF these projections come to fruition, we will be looking at one of the best plays of the slate at his current price tag ($7800) on DraftKings. He is simply too valuable to #FADE in Cash Games. He is my favorite play on the slate, but he WILL be popular.

My Projection: 36 Minutes – 30 Points, 6 Rebounds, 7 Assists, 2 Steal.

2. Jakob Poeltl – C San Antonio Spurs – $4700

This is another case of injuries providing us an opportunity to exploit a CHEAP price tag. The SA Spurs are missing Lamarcus Aldridge & Trey Lyles for the Orlando Restart. That leaves Mr. Poeltl as the starting center. While Poeltl is a rotational player who averages ~16 minutes-per-game, I think we can safely project his minutes to be in the high 20s; even the low 30s. Poeltl averages 1.14 FPPM without Aldridge & Lyles on the courts. Incredibly productive.

With a drastic bump in projected minutes on the court, Poeltl easily becomes one of the best pay-down options on the slate. He projects to be one of the best point-per-dollar plays on the ENTIRE Slate. If you consider yourself a “Cash” player, you should be auto-locking Poeltl into your lineups.

$4700 for a player who projects to see 28 minutes, or more, is the definition of VALUE.

Do not over think this. Play Poeltl and #sailtothemoney.

My Projection: 26 Minutes – 14 Points, 10 Rebounds, 1 Block.

3. Robert Covington – SF/PF Houston Rockets – $6100

Traded to Houston in February, Covington is the third option on a high-powered Rockets offense behind Harden & Westbrook. Averaging 32 MPG, 12.8 PPG, and 7.9 REB per-game and only a 16.5% Usage Rate in Houston, Covington may not seem like a great option for Cash Games, but he is.

Covington is a player who averages 1 FPPM and is projected for roughly 35 Minutes in today’s matchup against the Mavericks. He also has a plus matchup in Dorian Finey-Smith who will struggle guarding him on the perimeter.

This is projected to be the highest scoring game on the slate with a 228.5 Total. Playing Covington allows you to roster a key piece of a high scoring game at only a $6100 Price Tag. While the studs (Harden/Westbrook/Doncic) are obvious, no-brainer plays, Covington could be the player who produces the best point-per-dollar return in the entire game.

My Projection: 36 Minutes – 20 Points, 12 Rebounds, 3 Assists

Bonus Player I LIKE for Cash Games – Kristap Porzingis.
